Tom Ford’s Interview With Vogue:
Tom Ford and his career evolution
” When you are doing something that you love so much that excites you, it flows over into everything… Everything you do at that moment in time is better, because you so creatively excited!”
Tom Ford talks to Vogue about his career evolvement from acting to designing menswear, shoes, handbags, fragrances, beauty products, and women’s wear.
“If you are excited in life, you are going to be better at what you are creating”
Tom Ford first started out as a television commercial actor before he merged into the fashion world. Tom Ford is currently known for his impeccable menswear line of suits worn by celebrities like Jay Z, Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper. It is interesting to hear Ford discuss how he was influenced by the images of Los Angeles, whether real places or film places. Tom Ford took a break from fashion to write and produce his own film titled ‘A Single Man’. Ford financed the film himself and directed it. His movie debut was in 2009, and was a success, winning several awards.
Tom Ford Spring 2012 Collection
Most people know Tom Ford as being one of the most exclusive menswear designers, but he actually is credited for helping Gucci revive their brand in the 90’s. In 1994, Tom Ford was the Creative Director for the failing fashion line. After adding glamour, modern sexiness and new provocative ad campaigns, Gucci sales rose 90%! Gucci went public in 1995 with an IPO of $22 per share. When Tom Ford eventually decided to leave Gucci, due to dissenting artistic control, Gucci Group was valued at $10 billion.
It’s clear that Tom Ford is more than just a designer, he is a creative individual that has a lot to offer the fashion world, but also a sharp businessman!
